Door Handles & Knobs
Q. Are door handles sold in pairs or singularly?
A. All door handles and knobs on this site and in general, are sold as pairs i.e 2no handles.
Q. Will my new door handles work with my existing latch mechanisms?
A. Yes, in 99% of cases. The only time that problems may occur is when buying unsprung knob furniture to go with a latch that has a weaker springing mechanism. Then what tends to happen is the knob turns ok, but may not spring back fully. Most if not all of our knob furniture is sprung unless stated, but if you have any doubts, we can offer heavier sprung latches and locks - please call us and we will endeavour to help you choose the right combination.
Q. I have old-fashioned surface mounted rim locks in my house, and i want to replace the knobs on them. Can i choose any of your knob furniture?
A. No. You must look for 'Rim Knob Furniture', as this will have the knob with a fixed plate on one side, and a knob without a backplate in the other, so as to sit onto the rim lock. If you are looking for a particular design / finish and cannot see it, please call us and we'll find it for you!
Q. What kind of guarantee do you offer of your door handles?
A. We are very confident in the quality of our products. We have supplied over and estimated one million door handles to the trade and retail sector, and very rarely do we have any quality issues. We therefore offer 5yr mechanical warranties and 5yr finish guarantees (internal). (please refer to terms & conditions for more information)
Q. What is bolt through fixing ?
A. Bolt through fixing bolts are a common method of fixing designer door handles on a rose. They are basically male/female bolts that are fed through from one side of the door to the other, then tightened, giving a much more effective and longer lasting fixing than conventional screws.
Q. How does bathroom furniture work?
A. All bathroom door furniture on this site will require a seperate mortice bathroom lock, either existing or available to buy from us. The snib turn that is mounted onto the backplate of our door handles, has 5mm steel bar that locates through the lock, allowing a deadbolt to be thrown into the frame keep, which locks the door. Emergency egress is achieved by using a coin or screwdriver from the outside if and when required.
If you are purchasing knob furniture on a rose, you will need to look at a separate turn and release to sit just under the knob. This method can also be combined with a mortice bathroom lock.
